London Teaching Hospital: Trauma and Emergency Care Centre, Stroke Centre, large children’s hospital
Teal has equipped bespoke ward furniture and patient seating at The Royal London, one part of the Barts and The London NHS Trusts new hospitals programme. The Royal London provides general and clinical services in a range of specialist centres, and Teal installed furniture into 110 different wards and departments.
Bedside lockers and over-bed table designs were created following clinical input from the Trust’s healthcare professionals. Features include bespoke handles, a lockable drug storage facility and silent closing doors and drawers, all in coordinating styles and colourways.
To meet the specification created by the Trust the furniture complies with British Standards for flame retardancy, strength & stability and quality of surface coating, featuring smooth surfaces with sealed joints, which reduce bacteria contamination sites.
The overbed tables incorporate Kydex, a fully compliant aviation grade thermoplastic sheet which is designed to withstand regular cleaning in line with the Trust’s Infection control policies. All surfaces which come in to contact with patients and staff are easily cleaned and not affected by common cleaning agents used in hospitals.
With proven success in delivering large refurbishment and new build projects, Teal is a preferred supplier to the NHS in England and Wales for ward and residential furniture. Working closely with clinicians and in partnership with the Trust has helped us to deliver furniture which will help transform the hospital experience for both patients and carers.
